The farm had been suffering a lack of foals this season, the only foals born had been Summerlady's twins, loved as they were, the whole staff had missed the fun of having a whole crop of foals running around. Thankfully, Lady Haiden Marie hadn't foaled yet. Though she had been bred late in the season, and therefore her colt was born late in the season, the little guy was very healthy.
Lady had foaled quickly and easily in the pasture she had been sharing with her daughter, Summerlady, and Summerlady's two babies. The quick and skilled birth was one of the perks of having a seasoned broodmare. The baby that resulted from Northwest Next and Lady's breeding was a handsome little bay dun, leggy and perfect, looking shockingly like Nate had when he was born, except healtier. The resemblance quickly put the whole staff a bit on edge, as Nate's mom, Sitala, had passed away soon after giving birth to Nate- we all worried the same would happen to Lady and her colt. However, our worries were soon pushed away when Lady was up galloping around with her baby, both healthy as could be. The best part of the colt's looks, however, was that even though we love Nate's grayed out coat, this time we would get to keep a bay dun- the baby wasn't going to gray out.
Though we had to let Lady's baby grow up a bit before he could safely play with Summerlady's duo, All Summer Long and Summer Sights, he soon got to meet the pair. He prefers to play with All Summer Long right now, soon enough he'll prefer Summer Sights- we've just go to wait until those hormones kick in. Summer Sights doesn't mind too much, she's fine with chilling with mommy and grandma. Little Lord Northwest is a perfect little guy, in looks and temperament, we've got high hopes for him. We couldn't have expected anything more from a breeding between Lady Haiden Marie and Northwest Next. And judging by his sire's 2/3 of Triple Crown wins, and dam's tendency to have incredibly successful foals, such as Triple Crown winner Summerlady, we can't imagine him disappointing.
